About the Cooper Firearms Model 52 Open Country Long Range

The Cooper Firearms Model 52 Open Country Long Range is a precision hunting rifle from the renowned Montana rifle maker, designed for shooters who demand custom-grade accuracy in a production rifle. The heart of the rifle is its 26-inch stainless steel barrel, cut with six straight flutes that taper from 1.17 inches in front of the recoil lug to 0.76 inch at the muzzle, topped with Cooper's proprietary 30-port muzzle brake with 5/8x24 threads. Weighing nine pounds, the Open Country LR strikes a balance between field portability and the stability needed for long-range precision. The TriggerTech Primary trigger comes factory-set at 3.5 pounds and is adjustable from 1.5 to 4 pounds, providing a clean, creep-free break that contributes to the rifle's guaranteed 0.5-MOA accuracy with premium match ammunition. Cooper Firearms, founded in 1990 by Dan Cooper and two former Kimber of Oregon employees in Stevensville, Montana, has built a reputation for producing some of the most accurate production rifles made in America. A Lightweight variant with a Proof Research carbon fiber barrel drops the weight to seven pounds without sacrificing the accuracy guarantee.

Cooper Firearms was founded by a handful of craftsmen with over 50 years of combined experience who gathered in Stevensville, Montana with the goal of building the finest production rifles made in the United States. The company's dedication to accuracy led to their industry-leading 0.5-MOA accuracy guarantee -- a standard that few production rifle makers match.

Cooper Firearms of Montana was founded in 1990 and is now part of Nighthawk Custom, operating as Cooper Rifles. The company initially built only single-shot rifles before introducing the Model 52 repeater in 2007. The Open Country Long Range Lightweight variant uses a Proof Research carbon fiber barrel to achieve a weight of 7 pounds while maintaining the 0.5-MOA accuracy guarantee. Cooper rifles are hand-built in Montana with extensive hand-fitting and individual accuracy testing.
