About the Glock 28

The Glock 28 is a subcompact, striker-fired, blowback-operated semi-automatic pistol chambered in .380 ACP. It shares the small subcompact frame of the Glock 26 and was designed primarily for concealed carry and as a backup or off-duty sidearm. Because of its lower-powered .380 ACP chambering it uses a fixed-barrel blowback action rather than the locked-breech short-recoil system of Glock's 9mm pistols. Subject to U.S. import-point restrictions, it was historically not available to the American civilian market and was sold mainly to overseas law enforcement and export markets before becoming available stateside.

The Glock 28 was one of the .380 ACP Glocks (alongside the Glock 25) developed largely for markets where civilians are restricted from military-caliber handguns, making the .380 chambering attractive for police and export sales.

Unlike Glock's locked-breech 9mm pistols, the .380 ACP Glock 28 (like the Glock 25) uses a simple blowback action because of the cartridge's lower pressure.
