About the Henry Original Henry Rifle

The Henry Original Henry Rifle (model H011) is a modern lever-action rifle produced by Henry Repeating Arms as a faithful reproduction of Benjamin Tyler Henry's 1860 Henry rifle, the first practical repeating rifle. Chambered in .44-40 Winchester, it retains the classic toggle-link action, a specially formulated hardened brass receiver, a one-piece octagonal blued-steel barrel and integral tubular magazine loaded from the muzzle end, and a fancy American walnut straight-grip stock with a brass buttplate. It holds 13 rounds and uses folding-ladder rear and blade front sights.

The original 1860 Henry rifle, whose lever-action repeating design this reproduction recreates, was prized during the American Civil War and earned the nickname 'that damned Yankee rifle you load on Sunday and shoot all week.'
