About the Swedish Nagant m/1887
The Swedish Nagant m/1887 is a six-shot, solid-frame double-action service revolver designed by Leon Nagant of Belgium and produced under license by Husqvarna Vapenfabrik in Sweden. Chambered in the 7.5x23mm Nagant centrefire cartridge, it has a fixed cylinder loaded one round at a time through a loading gate and emptied with a rod ejector, a v-notch rear sight, lanyard ring, blued finish, and wood grips. It served as a standard Swedish military sidearm from 1887 until it was supplanted by self-loading pistols in the early 20th century.
Sweden bought the same Leon Nagant revolver pattern that neighbouring Norway adopted as the m/1893, then had Husqvarna build it domestically - making the humble 7.5mm m/1887 a Scandinavian cousin of the far more famous Russian Nagant M1895.
