About the Marlin Model 1893

The Marlin Model 1893 was a lever-action repeating rifle and Marlin's first design built for smokeless powder, chambered in cartridges such as .30-30 Winchester, .32-40 and .38-55. Its solid-top, side-ejecting receiver became a Marlin hallmark, making the rifle easy to scope and a direct rival to the Winchester Model 1894. It is the direct forerunner of the Marlin Model 36 and the long-running Model 336.

The 1893's solid-top, side-ejecting receiver let shooters mount a scope directly over the action, an advantage that helped its descendant, the Model 336, eventually outsell the rival Winchester 94.
