About the Marlin Model 60SS
The Marlin Model 60SS is the stainless-steel variant of Marlin's best-selling Model 60, a semi-automatic, blowback-operated .22 Long Rifle rifle. It pairs a 19-inch stainless steel barrel and stainless receiver with a black-and-gray laminated hardwood stock for enhanced weather resistance over the standard blued, walnut-stocked Model 60. Like its parent, it feeds from an integral 14-round tubular magazine, uses Marlin's 16-groove Micro-Groove rifling, and offers a manual and last-shot automatic bolt hold-open. The receiver is grooved and drilled-and-tapped for scope mounting, and the rifle wears adjustable open sights with a hooded front blade. Introduced in the 1990s, the 60SS is a popular all-weather plinking and small-game rifle.
The Model 60SS gave the archetypal American .22 plinker an all-weather makeover: the same reliable Micro-Groove tube-fed action that generations learned to shoot on, now in stainless steel with a rugged laminated stock built to shrug off rain, humidity and hard field use.
