About the Mauser 86SR
The Mauser 86SR is a German bolt-action sniper rifle developed by Mauser-Werke in the mid-1980s as the successor to the earlier SP66. Chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, it uses a manually operated rotary bolt action with dual front locking lugs feeding from a nine-round detachable box magazine. The free-floated barrel is fitted with an effective muzzle brake, and the laminated wood or fiberglass stock features an adjustable buttpad and cheek rest. It was adopted by various European police agencies and Israeli security forces.
The 86SR continued the Mauser sniper lineage that began with the SP66, itself derived from the company's renowned bolt-action heritage dating back to the 19th-century Mauser military rifles.

Evolved from the Mauser SP66, the 86SR replaced the SP66's internal three-round magazine with a detachable nine-round box magazine. A .300 Winchester Magnum chambering was also offered.
