About the Norinco N870

The Norinco N870 is a Chinese 12-gauge pump-action shotgun manufactured by Norinco as a close copy of the Remington Model 870, whose patents have long expired. Built around a steel receiver with dual action bars and a tubular magazine, it shares most parts with the original Remington design. Commonly offered with 12.5-, 14- or 18-inch barrels and a parkerized finish, it is exported under designations such as HP9-1, M982 and Hawk 982 and is used for domestic Chinese military, police and security roles as well as export markets.

Norinco's reputation for inexpensive but serviceable copies of Western firearms made the N870 a popular budget alternative to the Remington 870 in export markets, where its parts compatibility with the American original is a major selling point.

Norinco N870 specifications

A direct Remington 870 clone; most parts interchange with genuine Remington 870 components. The short-barrelled, pistol-grip configuration is widely marketed as the HP9-1.
