About the Remington Model 660

The Remington Model 660 is a short-action bolt-action carbine produced from 1968 to 1971 as the successor to the Model 600. It featured a 20-inch barrel, a checkered walnut Monte Carlo stock, a distinctive dogleg bolt handle, and Remington's push-feed 'three rings of steel' short action. Standard chamberings included .222 Remington, .223 Remington, 6mm Remington, .243 Winchester, and .308 Winchester, with magnum models offered in 6.5 Remington Magnum and .350 Remington Magnum.

The Model 660 succeeded the carbine-length Model 600, gaining a longer 20-inch barrel that dropped the predecessor's ventilated rib while retaining its compact, fast-handling character favored by hunters in dense cover.
