About the Remington Model Seven

The Remington Model Seven is a compact, lightweight bolt-action hunting carbine introduced in 1983. Built on a true short action that is essentially a scaled-down Model 700, it was designed for hunters wanting a handy, quick-pointing rifle and effectively replaced the earlier Model 600 carbine. It feeds from an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate and, on later production, uses the externally adjustable X-Mark Pro trigger. Offered over its life in more than 18 configurations across walnut, synthetic, laminate and H-S Precision carbon-fiber stocks.

The Model Seven borrowed its action from the Model 700 and its short, handy carbine concept from the Model 600 it replaced, giving deer hunters a sub-six-pound rifle that pointed like a shotgun.

Remington Model Seven specifications

Original 1983 rifles had an 18-inch free-floated barrel; most later standard models use a 20-inch barrel. A 1987 Kevlar-reinforced fiberglass version trimmed weight to about 5 lb 4 oz. Production effectively halted following Remington's 2020 bankruptcy; status under RemArms is ambiguous.
