About the Remington Model 700 AWR
The Remington Model 700 AWR (American Wilderness Rifle) is a weather-resistant bolt-action hunting rifle built on Remington's proven Model 700 action, introduced in 2016 for backcountry and dangerous-game hunting. Its 416 stainless steel barreled action is finished in protective black Cerakote and paired with a Grayboe fiberglass and epoxy stock featuring pillar bedding and a free-floated barrel. The hammer-forged 5R-rifled barrel and adjustable X-Mark Pro trigger deliver long-range accuracy, while chambered in the belted-magnum-beating .300 Remington Ultra Magnum with a 26-inch barrel it drives 180-grain bullets to roughly 990 m/s for flat-shooting, hard-hitting performance on large game.
The Model 700 action, designed under Mike Walker and introduced in 1962, became one of the most successful and widely copied bolt-action platforms in history, serving as the basis for the U.S. military's M24 and M40 sniper systems. The AWR adapts that action into a rugged, all-weather stainless-and-fiberglass package aimed at hunters heading deep into harsh terrain.
