About the Ruger Hawkeye FTW Hunter
The Ruger Hawkeye FTW Hunter is an American bolt-action hunting rifle developed by Sturm, Ruger & Co. in partnership with the FTW Ranch SAAM (Sportsman's All-Weather, All-Terrain Marksmanship) shooting school. Built on Ruger's Model 77 Hawkeye platform, it pairs a Mauser-type controlled-round-feed action and non-rotating claw extractor with a 24-inch cold hammer-forged stainless barrel threaded for a muzzle brake. Chambered in 6.5mm Creedmoor and other long-range hunting cartridges, it is aimed at hunters and marksmanship students seeking a durable, precision field rifle.
The FTW Hunter grew out of Ruger's collaboration with the FTW Ranch in Texas, home of the SAAM (Sportsman's All-Weather, All-Terrain Marksmanship) course, where hunters train for long-range field shooting. The rifle distills the school's preferred configuration into a factory Model 77 Hawkeye.
