About the Ruger LCR .327 Federal Magnum
The Ruger LCR .327 Federal Magnum is a lightweight, hammerless double-action-only revolver chambered for the high-velocity .327 Federal Magnum cartridge. Part of Ruger's Lightweight Compact Revolver (LCR) family, it pairs a 400-series stainless steel monolithic frame with a polymer fire control housing to keep weight down while taming recoil. The .327 chambering gives it a six-round cylinder capacity in the same compact package that holds only five rounds of .38 Special, and it can also safely fire .32 H&R Magnum, .32 S&W Long, and .32 S&W ammunition. Its patented friction-reducing cam produces a smooth, non-stacking double-action trigger pull, making it a popular concealed-carry and personal-defense revolver.
When Ruger introduced the LCR in 2009 it broke with revolver tradition by using a polymer fire control housing on an aluminum or steel frame. The .327 Federal Magnum version answered shooters who wanted a small-frame carry revolver that gave up nothing in capacity, delivering six rounds of a cartridge with ballistics rivaling .357 Magnum from a snub-nose barrel.
