About the Ruger Mark IV Target

The Ruger Mark IV Target is a semi-automatic pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle, produced by Sturm, Ruger & Co. since 2016. This American-manufactured firearm reflects the engineering traditions and quality standards of its country of origin, designed to meet the demands of both civilian and professional users in a competitive global marketplace. Featuring a 10-round magazine capacity, this pistol offers adequate firepower for defensive carry. The 5.5-inch barrel maximizes accuracy potential and ballistic performance, making this an excellent choice for target shooting, competition, or field use. At 1009g (35.6 oz), this is a substantial firearm whose weight contributes to reduced felt recoil and enhanced stability during precision shooting. The aluminum alloy frame achieves a notable weight reduction compared to all-steel construction while maintaining the structural rigidity required for safe, reliable operation. This firearm represents its manufacturer's commitment to delivering a well-engineered, reliable product that serves the needs of discerning shooters seeking quality, accuracy, and dependable performance from a proven platform.

The Target variant of the Ruger Standard Auto pistol dates back to 1951 when the Mark I Target was introduced with a heavier barrel and adjustable sights. The bull barrel Target configuration has been a staple of NRA Bullseye competition for over seven decades. Generations of American competitive rimfire shooters have trained and competed with Ruger Mark series Target pistols, making the platform one of the most proven and widely used target .22 pistols in history. The Mark IV Target continues this legacy with modern manufacturing precision and the one-button takedown that earlier competitors could only dream about.

Model number 40101. MSRP $689. Includes two 10-round magazines. Also available in stainless steel (Model 40103, 42.8 oz). The bull barrel adds approximately 210 grams over the 4.75" Standard model, and the increased weight is concentrated forward to reduce muzzle movement. The adjustable rear sight is the key differentiator from Standard models - competitive shooters require the ability to zero their sights to specific ammunition lots. The receiver is drilled and tapped for aftermarket Weaver- or Picatinny-style rail mounting. Not available in California or Massachusetts. A popular platform for NRA Bullseye competition, rimfire steel challenge, and general precision plinking.

This is a variant of the Ruger Mark IV Standard 4.75".
