The Ruger Mark IV Standard 4.75" is the compact base model of the Mark IV semi-automatic pistol series, chambered in .22 LR. Introduced in 2016 as the fourth generation of Ruger's Standard Auto lineage dating back to 1949, it features a 4.75-inch tapered barrel, fixed front and rear sights, a blued alloy steel upper receiver, and a CNC-machined aluminum grip frame. The pistol holds 10+1 rounds and weighs 799 grams (28.2 oz) unloaded. The Mark IV generation's signature innovation is a one-button takedown system that allows tool-free field stripping by pressing a single recessed button at the rear of the frame, tilting the upper receiver up for removal. This solved the notoriously difficult reassembly that plagued Mark I through Mark III pistols for decades. The Standard model with fixed sights and tapered barrel is the most affordable entry point into the Mark IV line, serving as a reliable and accurate plinker and introductory pistol.

The Ruger Standard Auto of 1949 was the very first product of Sturm, Ruger & Co. and the pistol that launched the company. The Mark IV Standard differs from the 22/45 variants by using a traditional aluminum grip frame rather than the polymer 1911-angle grip frame. The tapered barrel is lighter than the bull barrel found on Target models. Fixed sights are simple and durable but not adjustable for windage or elevation. The receiver is drilled and tapped for aftermarket Weaver- or Picatinny-style rail mounting. Not available in California or Massachusetts. The ambidextrous manual safety can be converted to left-side only operation.
