The Sako TRG-22 is a Finnish bolt-action sniper rifle introduced in 1999 by Sako of Riihimaki, an improved successor to the TRG-21 (1989). The TRG name comes from the Finnish 'Tarkkuuskivaari Riihimaki G-sarja' - 'Riihimaki Precision Rifle, G-series'. Built around a stiff three-lug action with a 60-degree bolt throw, a cold-hammer-forged free-floating barrel, and a fully adjustable two-stage trigger (1.0-2.5 kgf), the TRG-22 is widely regarded as one of the finest factory-built precision rifles in the world. Its polyurethane stock is built around an aluminum skeleton chassis with adjustable cheekpiece, length of pull, and buttpad. The TRG-22 is the .308 Winchester (short-action) sister to the .338 Lapua Magnum TRG-42.

TRG stands for 'Tarkkuuskivaari Riihimaki G-sarja' - Finnish for 'Riihimaki Precision Rifle, G-series'. The 'G' is a coded reference to the number 7, marking it as the seventh design in Sako's precision rifle lineage following the TR-6. The TRG-22 was developed in cooperation with the Finnish Defence Forces who needed a sniper rifle that could survive Lapland winters at -40 C; the Finnish Army adopted it as the 7.62 TKIV 85, and it is now in service with more militaries than almost any other Western precision rifle.

The TRG platform spawned the modular TRG 22/42 (2017) and TRG 22 A1 (2017) chassis variants and was eventually succeeded for new military contracts by the multi-caliber Sako TRG M10 and M23.
