About the Sako TRG-41

The Sako TRG-41 is a Finnish bolt-action sniper rifle introduced in 1989 by Sako of Riihimaki. Built around a cold hammer-forged barrel and a three-lug bolt with a 60-degree throw, it was chambered for the powerful .338 Lapua Magnum (with a .300 Winchester Magnum subvariant), giving it long-range performance well beyond conventional 7.62mm sniper rifles. It featured a fully adjustable polymer stock, a detachable box magazine, a folding bipod and a rail for optical sights. The TRG-41 was the first of Sako's TRG line and was superseded by the improved TRG-42 in 1999.

The TRG-41 launched Sako's TRG sniper family and helped establish the .338 Lapua Magnum as a mainstream long-range military cartridge, bridging the gap between 7.62mm NATO precision rifles and heavy .50 BMG anti-materiel rifles.

Sako TRG-41 specifications

The TRG-41 is the original .338 Lapua Magnum member of the Sako TRG family and shares its action design with the shorter-cartridge TRG-21. It was replaced in 1999 by the TRG-42, which introduced a revised stock, extended magazine options and other refinements.
