About the Savage Fox Model B

The Savage Fox Model B is an American side-by-side double-barrel shotgun produced by Savage Arms from 1940 to 1988. After Savage acquired the prestigious A.H. Fox Gun Company in 1929, it introduced the Model B as an affordable boxlock double bearing the Fox name, built on a simplified Anson & Deeley-type action with a single underbolt and a Scott spindle top lever. Chambered for 12, 16, and 20 gauge as well as .410 bore, the Model B was a workmanlike field and small-game gun fitted with a color case-hardened frame and American black walnut stock.

The Fox name was once synonymous with high-grade American doubles, and Savage's affordable Model B let working hunters carry a side-by-side stamped with that storied heritage for a fraction of the cost of an original A.H. Fox gun.

Early Model B guns used double triggers; later Series F, G, and H production introduced a non-selective single trigger and a beavertail forend. The 12 gauge was originally chambered for 2 3/4-inch shells, with 3-inch chambering offered after the 16 gauge was dropped in the early 1970s.
