About the Savage Model 4

The Savage Model 4 is an American bolt-action rimfire rifle chambered for .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle cartridges. Fed from a detachable box magazine holding five rounds and fitted with a 24-inch barrel, it was produced by Savage Arms from the early 1930s until the mid-1960s as an affordable, accurate sporting and small-game rifle. Several lettered sub-variants (such as the Model 4C) reflected minor design changes over its production run.

An inexpensive Depression-era plinker and small-game rifle, the Model 4 introduced many American shooters to the bolt-action rimfire and remains a common secondhand starter rifle.
