About the Smith & Wesson Model 500

The Smith & Wesson Model 500 is a extra-large revolver built on Smith & Wesson's X-frame, introduced in 2003. Chambered in .500 S&W Magnum with a 5-round cylinder. Constructed with a stainless steel frame and cylinder, this revolver offers excellent corrosion resistance and durability for years of reliable service. The 8.4-inch barrel provides a generous sight radius for enhanced accuracy, particularly suited for target shooting and hunting applications. The double-action/single-action trigger system allows both deliberate double-action shots and precise single-action fire when the hammer is manually cocked, providing versatility across different shooting scenarios. At 2013g (71.0 oz), this is a substantial revolver that uses its mass to tame recoil from powerful magnum loads, making extended range sessions more comfortable. Smith & Wesson has been producing X-frame revolvers for over two decades, continuously refining the platform with improved metallurgy, ergonomics, and manufacturing techniques while maintaining the fundamental reliability and accuracy that has made their double-action revolvers the benchmark against which all others are measured.

The .500 S&W Magnum was developed in partnership with Cor-Bon specifically for hunting the largest and most dangerous game animals.
