About the Smith & Wesson M&P9 M2.0 Subcompact

The Smith & Wesson M&P9 M2.0 Subcompact is a subcompact, polymer-framed, striker-fired semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum. Introduced in 2019 as the smallest member of the M&P M2.0 family, the Subcompact features a 3.6-inch stainless steel barrel with Armornite corrosion-resistant finish, 6.6-inch overall length, and a 12+1 round capacity from flush-fit magazines. The pistol inherits all M2.0 generation improvements including the extended steel chassis embedded within the polymer frame for enhanced rigidity, aggressive grip texture on all surfaces, a refined flat-face trigger with approximately 5.5-pound pull weight and tactile/audible reset, and four interchangeable palmswell inserts (S, M, ML, L) for customizable hand fit. At just 25.0 ounces unloaded with a shortened grip and reduced overall height compared to the Compact models, the M&P9 M2.0 Subcompact is optimized for concealed carry while retaining the ergonomics, reliability, and accuracy of the full-size M&P platform. The pistol features an integral Picatinny accessory rail, white dot front and white two-dot rear steel sights, and accepts full-size 17-round M&P9 magazines for extended capacity when concealment is not required.

The M&P9 M2.0 Subcompact was introduced to fill the gap between the compact M2.0 models and the micro-sized Shield line, offering M&P duty-pistol ergonomics and trigger feel in a package small enough for everyday concealed carry. It competes directly with subcompact offerings like the Glock 26 and SIG P320 Subcompact.

The M&P9 M2.0 Subcompact ships with two 12-round flush-fit magazines. It is compatible with all M&P9 M2.0 full-size 17-round magazines with a slight grip protrusion. Available with or without an ambidextrous manual thumb safety. The Subcompact shares the same 3.6-inch barrel length as the M&P9 M2.0 Compact 3.6-inch model but features a shorter grip frame with reduced magazine capacity (12 vs 15 rounds) and lower overall height for improved concealability. Some models were discontinued from Smith & Wesson's regular catalog but remain available through distributors.

This is a variant of the Smith & Wesson M&P9 2.0.
