About the Smith & Wesson Model 327
The Smith & Wesson Model 327 is a subcompact semi-automatic pistol chambered in .357 Magnum, introduced by Smith & Wesson in 2007. The pistol features a scandium alloy frame, providing a durable platform designed for years of reliable service in both duty and civilian applications. With a magazine capacity of 8 rounds, this pistol offers ample firepower for defensive applications. The traditional DA/SA trigger system offers a heavier first pull for safety followed by a lighter single-action pull for subsequent shots, a design philosophy favored by many law enforcement agencies during the era. The 5.0-inch barrel maximizes the ballistic potential of the .357 Magnum cartridge while providing a generous sight radius that enhances accuracy at all practical distances. Weighing 1000g (35.3 oz) empty, this pistol provides enough mass to dampen felt recoil while remaining practical for holster carry and extended range sessions.
The Model 327 TRR8 was developed as a tactical revolver for law enforcement and SWAT teams who preferred the reliability of a revolver with increased capacity. The 8-shot cylinder gives it a capacity advantage over traditional 6-shot revolvers while maintaining the simplicity and reliability of the revolver platform.

The Model 327 represents Smith & Wesson's first 8-shot .357 Magnum revolver on the N-frame platform. The scandium alloy frame significantly reduces weight compared to traditional steel N-frames while maintaining strength for sustained magnum use. Moon clips are required for proper headspacing and rapid reloading. The TRR8 variant features a Performance Center tuned action that provides a smoother trigger pull than standard production revolvers. The accessory rail allows mounting of tactical lights and lasers. The loaded weight estimate includes eight .357 Magnum cartridges at approximately 20.2g each. The revolver can also chamber and fire .38 Special and .38 Special +P ammunition.
