The Shield X bridges the gap between the micro-compact Shield Plus and larger M&P compacts, offering the concealability of a sub-compact with the shootability and capacity of a compact pistol. With a 3.6-inch (91mm) Armornite-finished stainless steel barrel with a 1:10-inch twist rate, the Shield X provides improved ballistic performance and a longer sight radius compared to the 3.1-inch Shield Plus. The pistol weighs 20.8 ounces (590g) unloaded and measures 6.87 inches (175mm) in overall length, 4.9 inches (124mm) in height, and just 0.9 inches (23mm) at the slide. The polymer frame features an extended beavertail, undercut trigger guard, and aggressive grip texture with Smith & Wesson's signature 18-degree grip angle for natural point of aim. The flat-face trigger breaks cleanly at approximately 3.5 pounds (16 N), a significant improvement over the Shield Plus. The optics-ready slide features a ClearSight RMSc/K cut for direct mounting of micro red dot sights, paired with Ameriglo Trooper LumiGreen front night sight and a serrated U-notch rear sight that co-witness with mounted optics.
