About the Stevens Model 620

The Stevens Model 620 is an American hammerless, takedown pump-action shotgun produced by the J. Stevens Arms Company from 1927 to 1953. An improved, hammerless development of the John Browning-designed Model 520, it fed from a five-round tubular magazine and was offered in 12, 16 and 20 gauge with barrels from 26 to 32 inches. During World War II Stevens produced military trench-gun, riot-gun and training versions with 20-inch cylinder-bore barrels, a perforated barrel heat shield and a bayonet lug for close-quarters fighting.

The Model 520 and 620 trench guns saw hard use in the Pacific theater of World War II, where the pump shotgun proved a devastating close-quarters weapon in jungle fighting; surviving military examples with intact heat shields and bayonet lugs are prized by collectors today.
