About the Stevens Model 620A
The Stevens Model 620A is a hammerless, takedown pump-action shotgun that refined John Browning's earlier Model 520 with a streamlined solid-top receiver and bottom ejection. Chambered in 12 gauge with a five-round tubular magazine, it was built by the J. Stevens Arms Company and issued to US forces in World War II as a trench gun, fitted with a 508 mm (20 in) cylinder-bore barrel, a perforated steel heat shield, and a bayonet lug. Riot, training, and civilian sporting versions were also produced.
A classic American trench gun of the Pacific war, the Stevens 620A wore a 20-inch cylinder-bore barrel under a ventilated heat shield with a bayonet lug for close-quarters jungle fighting, built on Browning's smooth solid-top hammerless pump action.
