About the Mannlicher M1893

The Mannlicher M1893 was a turn-bolt service rifle designed by Ferdinand von Mannlicher and Otto Schoenauer and built by Steyr as the standard infantry rifle of the Kingdom of Romania. Unlike the straight-pull Austrian Mannlichers, it used a conventional rotating bolt, fed from a five-round en-bloc clip that ejected automatically when empty. It chambered the small-bore, high-velocity 6.5x53mmR cartridge.

Romania's Mannlicher M1893 fired one of the first true small-bore high-velocity military cartridges, the 6.5x53mmR, and its self-ejecting en-bloc clip popped out the bottom of the magazine with an audible 'ping' the instant the last round was chambered.
