About the Mannlicher-Schonauer M1910
The Mannlicher-Schonauer M1910 is an Austrian bolt-action sporting rifle built by Steyr, chambered for the medium-bore 9.5x57mm Mannlicher-Schonauer cartridge. It uses the classic split-bridge Mannlicher turning-bolt action paired with Otto Schonauer's spool-type rotary magazine, and was typically offered with the elegant full-length Mannlicher stock. Introduced in 1910 as the big-game member of the Mannlicher-Schonauer sporting line, it was prized by hunters for its smooth action, reliable feeding and a cartridge suited to heavier plains and dangerous game.
Ernest Hemingway was a devoted fan of Mannlicher-Schonauer sporters, and the rifles' butter-smooth rotary magazines and full-length stocks made them a status symbol of the golden age of safari and alpine hunting before the First World War.

The 9.5x57mm chambering (also sold in Britain as the .375 Rimless Nitro Express 2 1/4-inch) made the M1910 the heaviest standard chambering of the pre-WWI Mannlicher-Schonauer sporting rifles. Pressure figures for the cartridge are not consistently published and are left null.
