About the Taurus Raging Bull

The Taurus Raging Bull is a large-frame, double-action revolver line introduced by Taurus in 1997, originally chambered in the powerful .454 Casull and later offered across a family of magnum and big-bore cartridges including .44 Magnum, .444 Marlin, .480 Ruger and .500 S&W Magnum. Built around a heavy steel frame with a full-underlug ported barrel, the Raging Bull is designed to tame the recoil of the most powerful handgun cartridges, making it a favourite for handgun hunting and big-bore enthusiasts. Its defining engineering feature is a dual cylinder lockup that secures the cylinder at both the rear and the front of the crane, ensuring tight alignment under the extreme chamber pressures these cartridges generate. The signature Raging Bull grip features a red cushioned backstrap insert that absorbs recoil and helps the shooter maintain control during extended range sessions.

When Taurus launched the Raging Bull in .454 Casull in 1997, it gave shooters an affordable entry into one of the most violent handgun cartridges ever standardised, with chamber pressures nearly double those of the .44 Magnum-tamed only by the gun's ported barrel and shock-absorbing red backstrap insert.
