About the Thompson/Center Venture
The Thompson/Center Venture is an American budget-priced bolt-action hunting rifle introduced in 2009. Built to deliver custom-grade accuracy at an affordable price, it pairs a 5R button-rifled, free-floated barrel with a full-diameter three-lug bolt featuring a 60-degree lift, a user-adjustable single-stage trigger, and a detachable polymer box magazine. Pillar bedding and a recessed target crown support its 1-MOA accuracy guarantee, which T/C backed across the full caliber range from .204 Ruger through the belted magnums. The composite-stocked rifle was offered with a corrosion-resistant Weather Shield metal finish.
The Venture arrived amid a wave of value-priced bolt guns in the late 2000s, as makers raced to deliver guaranteed sub-MOA accuracy at hunter-friendly prices. T/C's heavier factory trigger was the rifle's main criticism, which the company addressed years later with the Generation II trigger on the Venture II.

Standard-caliber models used a 22-inch barrel with a 3- or 4-round detachable magazine; magnum chamberings used a 24-inch barrel. The Venture was discontinued around 2019 and succeeded by the improved-trigger Venture II (introduced at SHOT Show 2020) and, at the lower price tier, the Thompson/Center Compass. Twist rates and barrel lengths vary by chambering; the .308 Winchester used a 1:10-inch twist.
