Description

The Hornady FTX (Flex Tip eXpanding) Projectiles revolutionised lever-action hunting by combining the safety of a traditional flat-point bullet with the superior ballistics of a modern polymer-tipped design. Developed specifically for Hornady's famous LEVERevolution ammunition, the FTX allows hunters to achieve flatter trajectories, improved accuracy and greater downrange energy while remaining safe for use in tubular magazine rifles. Featuring Hornady's patented Flex Tip technology, the FTX uses a soft polymer tip that is safe to load in tubular magazines where cartridges are stacked nose-to-primer. Unlike conventional pointed bullets that can pose a safety risk in these firearms, the flexible tip allows hunters to benefit from improved aerodynamics without compromising safety. The streamlined profile and ballistically efficient secant ogive provide significantly improved ballistic coefficients compared to traditional flat-nose and round-nose lever-action bullets. This results in flatter trajectories, reduced wind drift and increased retained energy at extended hunting distances. At the core of the FTX is Hornady's proven InterLock technology, which mechanically locks the lead core and jacket together. Combined with a specially engineered jacket design, this promotes controlled expansion, improved weight retention and deep penetration on medium to large game animals. Upon impact, the Flex Tip is driven into the bullet, initiating rapid expansion across a broad range of impact velocities.
