About the MP-445 Varyag
The MP-445 Varyag is a Russian double-action/single-action, short-recoil-operated semi-automatic pistol developed by the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (Baikal) and first shown publicly at the INTERPOLITEX-2000 exhibition in Moscow. Built around a polymer frame derived from the MP-443 Grach service pistol family, it chambers 9x19mm Parabellum (with a .40 S&W export option), feeds from a 15-round detachable box magazine, and features an accessory rail for tactical lights and lasers. It is offered in a full-size model with adjustable sights and a compact MP-445C variant with fixed sights.
Named 'Varyag' (Varangian, the Norse traders and warriors of medieval Rus), the pistol was Izhevsk's polymer-framed commercial answer to the metal-framed MP-443 Grach that had just won the Russian military's Grach trials.

Designed primarily for the law enforcement and commercial export market rather than as a general-issue military sidearm. The compact MP-445C shortens the barrel to roughly 111 mm and uses fixed iron sights.
