About the Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol

The Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol is a gas-operated semi-automatic tactical shotgun introduced in 2023, designed and manufactured at Beretta's facility in Gallatin, Tennessee. Chambered in 12 gauge with a 3-inch chamber, the A300 Ultima Patrol features a 19.1-inch chrome-lined barrel threaded for Beretta Mobilchoke interchangeable choke tubes, with one flush-fitting improved cylinder choke included. The CNC-machined 7075-T6 aluminum receiver is finished with anodic oxidation for corrosion resistance. The patented gas-operated system with self-cleaning cylinder and piston features a compensating exhaust valve that automatically regulates pressure across a wide range of ammunition from light 2.75-inch target loads to heavy 3-inch magnums, providing reliable cycling without adjustment. The A300 Ultima Patrol utilizes a non-rotary falling-block bolt lockup design, a departure from the rotating bolt found in Beretta's higher-end 1301 platform. The shotgun offers a generous 7+1 capacity via an extended tubular magazine tube secured by a polymer barrel clamp with integrated M-LOK mounting capability. The thin synthetic forend features aggressive checkering panels and M-LOK slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions for accessory mounting. Sighting is provided by a ghost ring rear peep sight paired with a raised orange fiber-optic front post with protective wings, supplemented by a seven-slot Picatinny rail for optics. The synthetic stock features aggressive integral checkering on the pistol grip and underside, a 13-inch length of pull adjustable via included shim kits for customizing drop and cast, and a half-inch thick recoil pad. Tactical controls include an oversized reversible crossbolt safety, extended bolt handle with annular grooves, extended bolt release, and an oversized trigger guard to accommodate gloved hands. The enlarged loading port with angled sides and a shallow carrier channel facilitates rapid tactical reloading. The A300 Ultima Patrol includes three QD sling mounting points including a hidden socket in the rear stock. Weighing approximately 7.1 pounds, the shotgun represents Beretta's entry into the mid-range tactical semi-automatic shotgun market, offering proven gas system reliability at a significantly lower price point than the premium 1301 Tactical.

The Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol was born from a gap in Beretta's tactical lineup. While the premium 1301 Tactical dominated the high-end semi-auto shotgun market, Beretta lacked a mid-range offering to compete with the wave of affordable tactical semi-autos entering the market. Drawing on over five decades of gas-operated shotgun expertise, Beretta USA developed the A300 Ultima Patrol entirely at their Tennessee factory, making it one of the few American-made Beretta firearms. The enlarged loading port and extended magazine tube were designed with input from law enforcement trainers who emphasized that reload speed is the single greatest tactical disadvantage of shotguns compared to rifles and that every millisecond saved at the loading port matters in a defensive encounter.

The A300 Ultima Patrol debuted at SHOT Show 2023 and represents Beretta USA's strategy to offer a domestically manufactured tactical shotgun at a more accessible price point than the Italian-made 1301 Tactical. While the 1301 uses the faster-cycling BLINK cross-tube gas piston with a rotating bolt, the A300 Ultima Patrol employs an older but proven conventional gas system with a non-rotary falling-block bolt design. The chrome plating extends throughout the entire barrel, not just the bore, providing comprehensive corrosion protection. The Mobilchoke threading accepts a wide range of Beretta's interchangeable choke tubes. The ghost ring rear sight is made from plastic and is non-adjustable, a cost-saving measure compared to steel adjustable sights found on more expensive tactical shotguns. Available finishes include black, gray, and tiger stripe at varying MSRPs ($1,099 for black and gray, $1,199 for tiger stripe). The A300 platform has a proven track record spanning over 50 years of gas-operated shotgun development by Beretta.
