About the Chapuis African PH Double Rifle

The Chapuis African PH is a side-by-side boxlock ejector double rifle built by French gunmaker Chapuis Armes for dangerous-game safari hunting. Chambered in .375 H&H Magnum, it uses two independently regulated barrels fired by double triggers, a scalloped and grey-etched boxlock action with automatic ejectors, and a quarter-rib carrying express sights (one standing and three folding leaves regulated to 100, 150 and 200 metres). The figured walnut stock features a beavertail forend, pistol grip, cheekpiece and Decelerator recoil pad, with the action scroll-engraved and adorned with a cape buffalo motif.

Chapuis Armes, founded in the French gunmaking town of Saint-Bonnet-le-Chateau, built its reputation on affordable yet finely made side-by-side double rifles that brought the traditionally British safari double within reach of more hunters. The African PH was named for the professional hunters who guide dangerous-game safaris and rely on a double rifle's instant second barrel.
