About the Glock G27 Gen5
The Glock G27 Gen5 is the fifth-generation variant of Glock's subcompact .40 S&W pistol, introduced in 2023 as one of the later .40 S&W models to receive the Gen5 treatment. The Gen5 brings the full suite of modern Glock improvements to the subcompact .40 platform: the Glock Marksman Barrel (GMB) with enhanced polygonal rifling for improved accuracy, nDLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) finish for superior durability, a flared magazine well for faster reloads, ambidextrous slide stop lever, and the removal of finger grooves for a more universal grip. The G27 Gen5 retains the standard 9+1 capacity in the same compact 6.42-inch (163mm) overall length. Weighing 23.85 ounces (676g) with an empty magazine, the Gen5 maintains full backward compatibility with all Glock .40 S&W double-stack magazines from the G22 (15 rounds) and G23 (13 rounds). The trigger pull is refined to 26 N, lighter than the Gen4's 28 N. The G27 Gen5 serves shooters who prefer the .40 S&W's harder-hitting ballistics in the most concealable double-stack package available.
The G27 Gen5's late arrival -- six years after the initial Gen5 9mm models -- reflected the .40 S&W's diminished market position. Yet its release also demonstrated Glock's commitment to the caliber and the customers who remained loyal to it. For agencies and individuals still running .40 S&W, the Gen5 G27 brought their backup gun in line with the latest Glock technology, ensuring that those who chose to stay with the .40 would not be left behind as the platform continued to evolve.

The G27 Gen5 was released in 2023, notably later than the initial Gen5 9mm models (2017). Weight without magazine is 621g (21.91 oz). The later release reflects Glock's prioritization of 9mm models for the Gen5 rollout, following market demand. The Gen5 G27 shares its frame with the Gen5 G26 (9mm) with slight height differences due to the .40 S&W magazine floor plate. The nDLC finish and Marksman Barrel are the most significant practical improvements over the Gen4. The G27 can be converted to 9mm with a barrel and magazine swap, or to .357 SIG with a barrel swap alone. Compatible with G22 15-round and G23 13-round magazines.
This is a variant of the Glock G27.
