About the Glock G30 SF
The Glock G30 SF is a semi-automatic pistol chambered in .45 ACP, produced by Glock Ges.m.b.H. since 2007. This Austrian-manufactured firearm reflects the engineering traditions and quality standards of its country of origin, designed to meet the demands of both civilian and professional users in a competitive global marketplace. Featuring a 10-round magazine capacity, this pistol offers adequate firepower for defensive carry. The striker-fired action provides a consistent trigger pull for every shot, simplifying training and reducing the manual of arms - a design philosophy that has become the dominant paradigm in modern defensive handguns. The 3.8-inch barrel provides an excellent balance between sight radius and portability, making it equally suitable for duty carry and recreational shooting. Weighing 745g (26.3 oz) empty, this firearm strikes a practical balance between manageable carry weight and sufficient mass to moderate felt recoil during shooting. The polymer frame construction reduces weight while providing a textured, ergonomic grip surface designed for secure handling in all conditions. This firearm represents its manufacturer's commitment to delivering a well-engineered, reliable product that serves the needs of discerning shooters seeking quality, accuracy, and dependable performance from a proven platform.
The G30 SF was the answer to a persistent complaint: the standard G30's double-stack .45 ACP grip was simply too thick for comfortable concealed carry by shooters who did not have large hands. The SF variant's reduced grip circumference made the difference between a pistol that required constant readjustment and one that could be drawn and fired with confidence. The G30 SF's popularity directly led to the development of the G30S hybrid, which took the concept further by mating the SF frame with the slimmer G36 slide, creating an entirely new category in Glock's lineup.

The SF (Short Frame) designation was Glock's pre-Gen4 answer to the grip size complaint, predating the modular backstrap system. Weight without magazine is 675g (23.81 oz). The G30 SF shares its frame dimensions with the G29 SF (10mm), with identical external size. The SF frame reduces the back-to-front grip dimension by approximately 2.5mm. The SF uses Gen3-era features: no interchangeable backstraps, single recoil spring, non-reversible magazine catch, and finger grooves. Compatible with Glock 21 13-round magazines with grip extension. The G30 SF later inspired the G30S, which combined the G30 SF frame with the slimmer Glock 36 slide for a significantly thinner package. The SF model remains in production alongside the Gen5.
This is a variant of the Glock 30 Gen4.
