About the Glock G45
The Glock G45 is a semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, produced by Glock Ges.m.b.H. since 2018. This Austrian-manufactured firearm reflects the engineering traditions and quality standards of its country of origin, designed to meet the demands of both civilian and professional users in a competitive global marketplace. Featuring a 17-round magazine capacity, this pistol offers generous firepower for duty use and home defense. The striker-fired action provides a consistent trigger pull for every shot, simplifying training and reducing the manual of arms - a design philosophy that has become the dominant paradigm in modern defensive handguns. The 4.0-inch barrel provides an excellent balance between sight radius and portability, making it equally suitable for duty carry and recreational shooting. Weighing 616g (21.7 oz) empty, this firearm strikes a practical balance between manageable carry weight and sufficient mass to moderate felt recoil during shooting. The polymer frame construction reduces weight while providing a textured, ergonomic grip surface designed for secure handling in all conditions. This firearm represents its manufacturer's commitment to delivering a well-engineered, reliable product that serves the needs of discerning shooters seeking quality, accuracy, and dependable performance from a proven platform.
The G45 was born from the ashes of Glock's loss in the U.S. Army Modular Handgun System competition. After the G19X was rejected in favor of the SIG P320, Glock refined the crossover concept with Gen5 improvements and released it commercially. The move proved brilliant -- the G45 became a runaway hit with law enforcement agencies who appreciated the compact slide for holster compatibility combined with the full-size grip for better control and capacity. It is often called the 'duty Glock that should have existed all along.'

The crossover concept -- compact slide on full-size frame -- was validated by the MHS trials where Glock submitted the G19X. While SIG Sauer won that contract with the P320-based M17/M18, Glock took the crossover concept commercial. The G45 improves on the 19X with front slide serrations (absent on the 19X), the Gen5 flared magazine well, ambidextrous slide stop, and the nDLC finish instead of the 19X's coyote tan. The MOS variant adds an optic cut compatible with numerous red dot sights. Standard magazine capacity is 17 rounds, with 19, 24, 31, and 33-round options available. The French National Police adopted the G45 as their new service pistol.
