About the Glock G47 MOS

The Glock G47 MOS is a semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, produced by Glock Ges.m.b.H. since 2023. This Austrian-manufactured firearm reflects the engineering traditions and quality standards of its country of origin, designed to meet the demands of both civilian and professional users in a competitive global marketplace. Featuring a 17-round magazine capacity, this pistol offers generous firepower for duty use and home defense. The striker-fired action provides a consistent trigger pull for every shot, simplifying training and reducing the manual of arms - a design philosophy that has become the dominant paradigm in modern defensive handguns. The 4.5-inch barrel provides an excellent balance between sight radius and portability, making it equally suitable for duty carry and recreational shooting. Weighing 660g (23.3 oz) empty, this firearm strikes a practical balance between manageable carry weight and sufficient mass to moderate felt recoil during shooting. The polymer frame construction reduces weight while providing a textured, ergonomic grip surface designed for secure handling in all conditions. This firearm represents its manufacturer's commitment to delivering a well-engineered, reliable product that serves the needs of discerning shooters seeking quality, accuracy, and dependable performance from a proven platform.

When the G47 MOS finally hit commercial shelves in 2023, it sold out almost everywhere within weeks. Gun enthusiasts had been waiting years for the CBP-exclusive model to become available. Many proclaimed it the 'best Glock ever made' -- the modular frame that could accept multiple slide lengths combined with the standard MOS optic cut and Gen5 refinements created the most versatile full-size Glock in the lineup. The shortened dust cover, originally an engineering solution for CBP's modularity requirement, became a sought-after feature that distinguished the G47 from the G17.

The G47 is only available in MOS configuration -- all G47s come standard with the optic cut. The shortened dust cover is the key engineering feature that enables slide modularity: G19, G45, and G17-length slides all fit the G47 frame. This was CBP's primary requirement, allowing officers to configure their pistol for different duty assignments. Standard magazine capacity is 17 rounds, compatible with all Glock 17 magazines. The G47 MOS was the most anticipated Glock commercial release in years when it finally became available to civilians in early 2023.
