About the Pedersoli Jager
The Pedersoli Jager is a modern reproduction of the classic German Jäger (hunter) muzzleloading rifle, built by Davide Pedersoli in .54 caliber. Chambered for the patched round ball, it is a compact, well-balanced large-bore percussion or flintlock rifle featuring a broached-rifled octagonal barrel, a double set trigger, walnut furniture with steel fittings, and a decorative patch box with a sliding lid. Offered in Hunter and Target configurations, it is popular for both hunting and muzzleloading target competition.
The short-barreled Jäger rifle carried by German and Swiss immigrants was the direct ancestor of the American 'Kentucky' long rifle, which frontier gunsmiths lengthened and slimmed to suit the New World.
