About the Pedersoli Waadtlander
The Pedersoli Waadtlander is a single-shot muzzleloading percussion target rifle produced by Davide Pedersoli, reproducing the heavy Swiss ordnance-pattern match rifle of the mid-19th century used in the canton of Vaud (German: Waadt). It has a long octagonal .45 caliber rifled barrel with a 1:48 twist and seven grooves, a double set trigger, and a select walnut stock, and is built for precision black-powder target shooting at 50 metres in MLAIC muzzleloading competition.
The Waadtlander recreates the heavy Swiss free-rifle tradition of the Vaud canton, where mid-19th-century shooting festivals (Schutzenfeste) drove the development of extremely accurate percussion match rifles that could hold their own at 50 metres against far later cartridge arms.

A muzzleloading percussion arm: the patched round ball is loaded directly down the octagonal rifled barrel and ignited by a percussion cap. The heavy barrel and full match stock make it one of the heaviest rifles in Pedersoli's target range at roughly 6.5 kg.
