About the Savage Mark I
The Savage Mark I is a single-shot, bolt-action rimfire rifle chambered in .22 Long Rifle, introduced by Savage Arms in the late 1990s as an affordable training and small-game rifle. Loaded one cartridge at a time, it is widely used as a youth and beginner rifle and in target configurations such as the Mark I FVT, which adds a heavy barrel and adjustable peep sights.
A staple first rifle for many American shooters, the single-shot Mark I is prized for teaching marksmanship discipline: with only one round at a time, every shot has to count.
