About the Smith & Wesson Performance Center Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp
The Smith & Wesson Performance Center Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp is the Performance Center-enhanced variant of the Bodyguard 2.0 micro-compact .380 ACP pistol, featuring Smith & Wesson's proprietary PowerPort compensator technology for reduced felt recoil and muzzle rise. Introduced in 2024, the Carry Comp builds on the Bodyguard 2.0 platform with a longer 3.1-inch (79mm) ported stainless steel barrel finished in Armornite, with a port at the twelve o'clock position that vents propellant gases upward to push the muzzle down during firing. The slide features a distinctive Performance Center Gray Armornite finish with lightening cuts and aggressive serrations for improved racking capability. At 11.8 ounces (335g) unloaded and 5.85 inches (149mm) overall, the Carry Comp remains remarkably pocket-friendly despite the extended ported barrel. The pistol ships with one 10-round flush-fit magazine and one 12-round extended magazine, maintaining the Bodyguard 2.0's dramatic capacity improvement over the original Bodyguard 380. Ameriglo Protector sights with a LumiGreen front night sight and blacked-out square notch rear provide excellent sight acquisition in all lighting conditions. The striker-fired action uses a Browning-style tilting barrel short recoil system rather than simple blowback, contributing to the soft recoil characteristics. A flat-face trigger with a crisp, clean break offers Performance Center-quality trigger feel tuned at the factory.
The Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp represents Smith & Wesson's Performance Center applying its expertise to the smallest pistol in the M&P lineup. The PowerPort compensator technology, previously seen on larger M&P models, was miniaturized for the micro .380 platform, addressing one of the primary complaints about pocket pistols: the snappy, difficult-to-control recoil that comes with firing from a sub-12-ounce handgun. By porting the barrel and slide, the Carry Comp turns propellant gases into a muzzle-taming force, making follow-up shots faster and more accurate without meaningfully increasing the pistol's footprint.

The Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp is part of Smith & Wesson's Performance Center line, which features hand-tuned triggers and enhanced features. The PowerPort compensator technology diverts propellant gases upward through a port machined into the barrel and slide at the twelve o'clock position, reducing muzzle flip by approximately 15-20% compared to the standard Bodyguard 2.0. The 3.1-inch barrel is 0.35 inches longer than the standard Bodyguard 2.0's 2.75-inch barrel, adding approximately 0.35 inches to overall length. The Carry Comp is available in three configurations: thumb safety, no thumb safety, and a 10-round compliant model. A grey/black two-tone version is also available. The trigger pull is Performance Center-tuned to approximately 5 pounds (22 N), lighter than the standard Bodyguard 2.0. The extended 12-round magazine includes a pinky extension for improved grip. Despite the Performance Center enhancements, the pistol maintains the same slim profile under 1 inch wide, making it compatible with most Bodyguard 2.0 holsters that accommodate the longer barrel. MSRP is $549.
This is a variant of the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0.
