About the Smith & Wesson M&P FPC
The Smith & Wesson M&P FPC (Folding Pistol Carbine) is a 9mm semi-automatic carbine-caliber carbine introduced in 2023, designed around a side-folding mechanism that brings overall length from 772mm down to a compact 416mm for stowage in a vehicle, backpack, or the included carry bag. It feeds from M&P pistol magazines - shipping with one 17-round and two 23-round magazines, two of which dock into storage slots cast into the polymer stock - and uses a simple blowback action with a hammer-fired flat-face trigger. A 16.25-inch threaded barrel, full-length Picatinny top rail, and M-LOK handguard make the FPC suppressor-friendly and optic-ready. At an MSRP of $659, the FPC competes directly with the Ruger PC Carbine, Kel-Tec SUB-2000, and Beretta Cx4 Storm in the increasingly crowded folding PCC segment.
Smith & Wesson developed the FPC to plug an obvious gap in their M&P ecosystem - owners of an M&P9 already had a stockpile of double-stack 9mm magazines, and the FPC turns those same mags into a stable, suppressor-ready carbine that folds in half for trunk storage. Its 2023 launch landed in the middle of the post-pandemic boom in pistol-caliber carbines.

The FPC's defining feature is its quick-deploy folding latch, which allows the carbine to be drawn from the bag and deployed with a single sharp motion. The polymer stock provides a fixed 14.5-inch length of pull and houses two magazine storage slots. Trigger pack is a derivative of the M&P pistol's flat-face trigger with a single-action break.
