About the Marlin Camp Carbine 9mm
The Marlin Camp Carbine (Model 9) is a 9x19mm direct-blowback semi-automatic carbine-caliber carbine made by Marlin Firearms from 1985 to 1999. Conceived as a handy utility 'camp' gun, it feeds from Smith & Wesson Model 59-series pistol magazines so a shooter could share ammunition and magazines between carbine and sidearm. It uses a hardwood stock, Marlin's Micro-Groove rifling, an M1-Carbine-style cross-bolt safety in the trigger guard, and a magazine disconnect.
Reviving the old frontier idea of a long gun and a handgun that feed the same fodder, the Camp Carbine took Smith & Wesson Model 59 pistol magazines in 9mm and 1911 magazines in .45, and American Rifleman noted it shot so softly that 'recoil is hardly more than that of a .22 rifle.'
