About the Marlin Model 70P Papoose

The Marlin Model 70P Papoose is a lightweight, blowback-operated semi-automatic takedown carbine chambered in .22 LR. Derived from the Marlin Model 60, its barrel unscrews from the receiver by a hand-tightened nut so the rifle breaks into two short sections that stow in a supplied floating carry case, making it a popular survival, backpacking and boating rifle. It feeds from a 7-round detachable box magazine and uses Marlin's Micro-Groove rifling.

Marketed as a compact survival and packable rifle, the Papoose's floating case and quick barrel takedown made it a favorite of pilots, boaters and backcountry campers who wanted a stowable .22.
