About the Pedersoli 1766 Charleville Musket

The Pedersoli 1766 Charleville Musket is a modern, faithful reproduction of the .69 caliber flintlock smoothbore muzzle-loading musket that served the French Army and was shipped in quantity to the American Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Built by Davide Pedersoli in Italy, it pairs a 44.75-inch armory-bright smoothbore barrel with a satin-finished European walnut full stock, three steel barrel bands, sling swivels and military-style iron sights, faithful to the 1763/1766 light infantry pattern. N-SSA approved for competition and reenactment, it fires a patched round ball or the historic loose ball and paper cartridge, loaded from the muzzle and ignited by a traditional flintlock.

The original 1766 light-pattern Charleville was among the French arms France sent to Washington's Continental Army, and it directly informed the United States Springfield Model 1795. Pedersoli's reproduction lets modern shooters and reenactors carry a faithful copy of that Revolutionary War musket.
