About the Pedersoli 1777 Corrigé An IX
The Pedersoli 1777 Corrigé An IX is a modern reproduction of the French Modèle 1777 'corrected in the year IX' Charleville infantry musket, a .69 caliber smoothbore flintlock muzzle-loading long gun. Built by Davide Pedersoli in Italy, it faithfully copies the An IX (1800-1801) revision of the 1777 pattern that became the standard-issue arm of Napoleon's army, distinguished from the earlier 1777 chiefly by its reshaped frizzen and spring-retained barrel bands. It pairs an armory-bright smoothbore barrel with an oil-finished walnut full stock, steel hardware and a socket-bayonet lug, and is loaded from the muzzle with loose ball and paper cartridge for reenactment, living history and black-powder shooting.
The original An IX musket armed Napoleon's infantry through the Napoleonic Wars and was the last major refinement of the 1777 Charleville pattern before the percussion era; its design also directly informed the United States Springfield Model 1795. Pedersoli's An IX lets modern reenactors carry a faithful copy of the musket that stood in the ranks at Austerlitz and Waterloo.
