About the Pedersoli 1805 Baker

The Pedersoli 1805 Baker is a modern .625 caliber flintlock muzzleloading rifle, a faithful reproduction of the British Baker rifle built by Davide Pedersoli of Gardone Val Trompia, Italy. Introduced for 2026 as catalog model S196, it pairs a 30-inch Premium Match Grade steel barrel rifled with seven grooves at a slow 1:120-inch twist suited to a patched round ball with a CNC-machined flintlock in an old-silver finish. The rifle is stocked in walnut shaped to original Baker proportions and fitted with period-correct brass furniture, a patch box, a flip-up long-range rear sight and a sword-bayonet lug, making it suited to collectors, re-enactors and black-powder competitors.

The original Baker rifle was the standard arm of the British 95th Rifles, whose green-jacketed sharpshooters became legends of the Napoleonic Wars; rifleman Thomas Plunket famously used one to pick off a French general at extraordinary range during the 1809 retreat to Corunna.
