About the Pedersoli 1854 Lorenz Infantry Rifle

The Pedersoli 1854 Lorenz Infantry Rifle is a modern black-powder muzzle-loading rifle-musket made by Davide Pedersoli, reproducing the Austrian Lorenz Model 1854 pattern used widely during the American Civil War. It is a single-shot percussion-cap arm chambered for the .54-caliber (13.9 mm) Lorenz projectile, built on a 940 mm PMG steel barrel with four-groove rifling in a right-hand twist and a one-piece walnut stock in a satin finish. Marketed as the Infantry Type II model, it is approved for reenactment and skirmish competition by the North-South Skirmish Association.

Pedersoli's reproduction revives the Austrian rifle-musket that both Union and Confederate armies imported by the hundreds of thousands, letting modern skirmishers shoot the third most common longarm of the American Civil War.
