About the Pedersoli 1874 Sharps Q Down Under
The Pedersoli 1874 Sharps Q Down Under is a single-shot, falling-block breech-loading rifle chambered in .45-70 Government. A modern black-powder cartridge reproduction of the classic Sharps Model 1874, it features a 34-inch heavy tapered octagonal barrel, double set triggers, an oil-finished checkered walnut stock with patch box, a saddle ring, and a German silver nose cap. The Q Down Under configuration echoes the long-range Sharps sporting rifle popularized by the film Quigley Down Under and is favored for silhouette and long-range black-powder cartridge target shooting as well as big-game hunting.
The Sharps Model 1874 earned lasting fame among buffalo hunters and long-range marksmen of the American frontier. Pedersoli's Q Down Under pays homage to the heavy-barreled Sharps sporting rifle carried by the title character in the 1990 Western film Quigley Down Under.
