The Remington Model 11 Riot is the short-barreled riot and military configuration of Remington's Model 11 semi-automatic shotgun, the first autoloading shotgun produced in the United States. Built on John Browning's long-recoil Auto-5 design and identifiable by its distinctive humpback receiver, the riot model fits a 20-inch cylinder-bore barrel in place of the longer sporting barrel for close-quarters use. Chambered in 12 gauge and fed from a 5-round tubular magazine, it served as a guard and riot gun with U.S. military and police forces, seeing notable use during the Second World War for base security, internal guard duty, and aerial-gunnery training.
